So this past week definitely felt as though I’m starting to make a bit of progress with regards the knee issues I’ve been having and slowly increasing the volume of the runs. Its weird although I feel quite positive about the week when I typed out the recap below I had to double check is that all I actually ran! Hard to get too excited about running only 22 miles over a 7 day period. Debated about throwing in the recap below at all but have been using the Blog as a way of tracking my training and keeping me accountable so that counts for both good and bad weeks. Had actually intended to get a run in yesterday but was travelling back from Donegal and got back later than expected yesterday evening and if I’m being honest probably got too preoccupied watching the golf 😊 Yes Jon Rahm!!
Weekly Recap:
Monday: 4.3 miles – 33.42
Tuesday: Rest Day - Physio
Wednesday: 6.1 miles - 48.06
Thursday: 6.22 miles - 50.02
Friday: 6 miles – 45.13
Saturday: Rest Day
Sunday: Rest Day
Not long back from a 6 mile run and knee feels like its improved a lot even in the last week so will keep building things gradually again this week. Going to need to start building things up as want to run a decent marathon in the Autumn. Announcement regarding Dublin Marathon is coming towards the end of the week so fingers crossed it can go ahead. If not I had entered Belfast Marathon and that has been rescheduled till the 3rd of October which is 15 weeks from yesterday and considering I like to get a 12 week specific block in for marathons going to need to build things up gradually to be able to handle the rigours of a marathon block but still need to be conscious of not overloading the body too soon. Anybody out there with marathon ambitions for the Autumn be it Dublin, Belfast, London, Berlin, Manchester etc now is the time to be thinking of getting ready for a marathon specific block and ensuring the body is ready to handle it. Its exciting to be even talking about marathon blocks so heres hoping everything can go ahead 😊
Bit of a shorter blog this week folks, hopefully over the next week or so I’ll have a bit more exciting training to report on 😊
Cheers for reading,
Noel
